b) Travel-based: When CarPlay is turned on / off, or when we arrive at or leave a location, and before we commute.
c) Settings-based: When we open a specific app or when settings are changed (Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, Low Power Mode).
There are 2 kinds of triggers: those that can run shortcuts automatically and those that can’t (we get a notification we need to tap). Automation is becoming more useful with iOS / iPadOS 14 release (public beta available).
Triggers that can be used to run shortcuts automatically (without user interaction):
a) Alarm: is stopped or snoozed.
b) Apple Watch Workout: starts or ends.
c) CarPlay: when it connects, disconnects, or is switched on/off.
d) Airplane Mode: is turned on, turned off, or is switched on/off.
e) Do Not Disturb: is turned on, turned off, or is switched on/off.
f) Low Powe Mode: is turned on, turned off, or is switched on/off.
g) Open App: when a specific app is opened.
Triggers that can’t be used to run shortcuts automatically (notification is shown and needs to be tapped in order to execute the shortcut):
a) Time of Day: at a specific time of day or at / before / after sunrise or sunset.
b) Arrive: when we arrive at a specific location at any time, or in a specific time range.
